Xiaoxiao Hung

Assistant Landscape Architect

Xiaoxiao’s journey into landscape architecture is driven by a sensitivity to the world around her and a passion for design. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture in China, where five years of study provided a strong foundation in architecture, landscape, and urban planning, with practical experience in historic restoration and therapeutic landscapes.

Afterward, she worked at the Shenzhen office of a Rotterdam-based firm, contributing to international projects and refining her skills in concept design, visual storytelling, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Xiaoxiao continued her academic journey in the UK, earning an MA in Landscape Architecture from the University of Sheffield. Her postgraduate studies focused on innovative and boundary-pushing projects, particularly in the integration of fine art and landscape design, as well as Memorial/Reflection spaces. For her final project, she explored soundscapes, seeking to reorganize the auditory experience of urban spaces. Her design aimed to reduce the tension between sounds created by human civilization and those of nature, ultimately achieving a balance that transforms a linear city journey into a harmonious concerto. The project encouraged awareness of often-overlooked environmental sounds and inspired individuals to create unique auditory sensory maps through imagination and creativity.

In addition to her artistic approach, Xiaoxiao also emphasized the application of data-driven methods in landscape design. Her dissertation explored the relationship between green spaces, health, and well-being, employing GIS and SPSS statistical methods to diversify and enhance the measurement of green space attributes.

In her personal life, Xiaoxiao enjoys quieter activities such as reading and writing, which are integral to her creative process. Beyond this, she is exploring and applying her aesthetic sensibilities and design skills, cultivated through her landscape design training, to the creation of computer games, combining her literary background with her passion for innovative storytelling.
