Simon re-joined Churchman in 2006 and now has a pivotal role in the practice leading on a number of projects including the mixed-use masterplan at Silvertown Quays and the LI president award-winning South Gardens in Elephant and Castle. Other award winning projects include New Garden Quarter Stratford, Thames Path in Nine Elms, Three Mills Green and Sammy Ofer Wing at the National Maritime Museum.
Simon's interest stems from his personal experience of ecological and productive landscapes and the influence of permaculture. Simon is inspired by low input - high impact ecological planting design and is focused on integrating diverse plant communities into challenging urban sites. An example of which is the green roof design guide he authored based on biomimicry of brownfield 'open mosaic habitat’ and conditions.
