Edge London Bridge

London's greenest office building

Our client Edge Technologies has established a reputation for delivering hi-tech, healthy and sustainable buildings all over Europe. Their first UK development aspires to be the most sustainable office building in London, aiming to achieve both BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Platinum certification. Inspired by that mission we have set out to design an exceptionally verdant, harmonious, and stimulating landscape to work in and visit, celebrating the potential of planting and nature to lift and invigorate the human spirit.

Designed to bring the outside in

The 3-storey glazed atrium and the external landscape are conceived as a single ‘Park Plinth’ - a public amenity where the free-flowing forms of the landscape merge seamlessly between the inside and outside of the glazed façade and at multiple levels, where the planting appears to colonise the building from the outside in.

The public gardens at the base of the tower comprise cellular arrangements of planted beds and paved plazas defined by a landform and spine of woodland planting. Intimate garden spaces are nested in glades within this landscape surrounded by trees and shrubs and planted in the manner of a physic garden with a flowering mix of scented herbs and medicinal plants.

The floating set-back floors and mezzanines within the atrium allow us to introduce vertical greening elements. Trees, climbing plants, a multi-storey green wall and sunken lightwell gardens bring light, air, and greenery into the upper and lower ground floors.

Planted terraces have been designed into the north elevation of the building providing outdoor space and a calming green outlook as an extension of the offices within.
